MEP Project Manager (Mechanical Bias) – Defence Projects
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced MEP Project Manager (Mechanical Bias) to join a growing delivery team supporting high-profile defence and secure infrastructure projects in and around Reading.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong mechanical project professional to lead the successful delivery of complex MEP packages within highly regulated and security-sensitive environments.
You will take ownership of projects from pre-construction through to commissioning and handover, ensuring delivery against programme, budget, quality, compliance and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the delivery of mechanical and MEP packages across defence sector projects.
- Coordinate multidisciplinary teams including design consultants, subcontractors and client stakeholders.
- Manage programme, procurement, commercial performance and project risk.
- Ensure all works are delivered in accordance with health & safety, quality and security requirements.
- Drive project progress through planning, reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Oversee commissioning, testing and handover activities.
- Monitor and manage project budgets, change control and cost forecasting.
- Maintain compliance with all applicable industry and defence standards.
About You
- Proven experience as an MEP Project Manager, Mechanical Project Manager or Senior Mechanical Project Engineer.
- Strong mechanical building services background with broader MEP coordination capability.
- Demonstrable experience delivering complex defence, secure, infrastructure, mission-critical or highly regulated projects.
- Good understanding of HVAC, public health and mechanical building systems.
- Experience managing subcontractors and client-facing delivery teams.
- Commercial awareness and programme management capability.
- Strong communication and leadership skills.
- Essential Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree, HNC/HND or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services.
- SMSTS or equivalent site management qualification.
- CSCS card.
- Knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts preferred.
- Security Requirements:
- Due to the nature of the projects, applicants must hold current Security Clearance (SC) or be eligible and willing to undergo security vetting.
