The Opportunity
On behalf of our client, we are recruiting for an experienced head of projects to lead and grow their Projects division in Malta.
This is a senior leadership opportunity for an accomplished construction professional to take responsibility for the strategic, commercial and operational performance of a multi-disciplinary construction business.
The role will provide hands-on leadership across civil works, fit-out and joinery, construction joint ventures and property projects, with a strong focus on profitable delivery, operational excellence, governance and sustainable business growth.
This is a significant leadership opportunity for an experienced construction professional to take ownership of a diverse project portfolio and play a key role in the continued growth and development of an established construction business in Malta.

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the General Manager will be responsible for:
Key Responsibilities
- Providing executive oversight of projects, ensuring safe, high-quality, on-time and on-budget delivery.
- Developing and executing business strategy, identifying opportunities for growth, diversification, market expansion and long-term sustainability.
- Leading, mentoring and performance-managing a senior management team across Civil Works, Fit-Out & Joinery, Construction Joint Ventures, Property Projects, Commercial and Finance.
- Driving commercial performance and profitability through effective tendering, contract negotiations, cost control, margin improvement and risk management.
- Establishing robust project governance frameworks and ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, regulatory requirements, quality standards and health & safety practices.
- Overseeing budgets, forecasting, cash flow management, financial reporting and capital expenditure.
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, joint venture partners, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers and regulators.
- Leading major bids, proposals and strategic partnerships to strengthen market positioning and business development.
- Promoting a culture of safety, accountability, innovation and continuous improvement.
- Supporting talent development, succession planning and workforce capability.
- Ensuring high standards of quality, health & safety and environmental responsibility across the business.
About You
- Ensuring high standards of quality, health & safety and environmental responsibility across the business.
- A minimum of 10 years' relevant professional experience.
- Strong experience within the construction sector.
- Knowledge and experience of fit-out projects.
- Proven senior leadership and people-management experience.
- Strong commercial and business acumen.
- Excellent organisational, planning, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- The ability to manage multiple priorities, work under pressure and meet demanding deadlines.
- A methodical, proactive and energetic approach, with strong attention to detail and quality.
- Knowledge of health & safety procedures.
- Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Maltese.
- The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a senior leadership team.
